This book was different from what I expected--I didn't think there would be short stories to match the type of wine. The stories were cute and the author was very creative with the character names (like Donnay for Chardonnay). I learned a lot about wine. My husband knew a lot about wine and he was always trying to get me and my family to try different kinds, but we really liked sweet wines and he liked drier wines that weren't so sweet. My BFF turned me on to Moscato recently and I'm glad to have this book to learn about other wines.

I hope the author has written (or is planning to write) other books because her short story writing skills are excellent.

An entertainingly, enlightening, amusingly, informative peregrination through

I feel this effort is worthy of at least 4.1/2 stars.and methinks that if i was a
vino virtuoso i would make it 5 stars......
For those with a taste for good wine good company and conversation [plus an interest in hims !] this is a must!!
From the beginning the author associates how men and certain wines such as Pinot Noir can be very unpredictable in each harvest, very intoxicating and yet delicious at the same time. I particularly enjoyed the story of Pinot Noir, Sienna's old high school friend and his bike. It's a story that really pulls you in and shows similarity between the wine, Pinot Noir and Sienna's new found boyfriend, Pinot Noir.

Also, I learned a lot about the wine, Pinot Noir, and I thought the author was very creative in her short stories which are easy to digest and yet filled with amazing creativity and imagery.

After reading a number of stories from this book, you understand the association and appreciate the beauty of the writing.
I would recommend this book to anybody, whether you're interested in wine or not; it'll teach you about not only wine but the dating world between men and women as a whole.

This book is really original in it's format and idea. It's refreshing when authors get zany and creative. Anne Violette is obviously a skilled writer with a sharp wit. I suggest you enjoy this book with your favorite drop! I couldn't wait for the book to arrive at 'Champagne' - my fave drink! And I learnt my lesson - Ms Violette suggests (tongue in cheek) not to stick around 'after the celebration' -) Have a laugh. Purchase this book.
I enjoyed the book thoroughly from the first page to the last.

Although I am a passionate amateur wine taster, this book enhanced not only my knowledge about different wines I haven't had the chance to probe yet but also boosted my wine-describing vocabulary. Instead of the dry listing of sommeliers' lingo, 21 wine types of the world are presented in lively, bright and dynamic portraits. They are so vivid that you start thinking of the wines as humans. This is intentional after each portrait, the wine's character is fully personified as a man archetype in a spicy relationship story. Finally, the third part of each wine's introduction is a summary with warnings or recommendation of use - the reader is not sure if it is about the wine or the man ).

"If you want people remember what you want to tell them, combine it with a story". Anne Violette knows this and uses it masterly. From now on, you will always remember the seductiveness of Shiraz, the crispy freshness of Chablis or cheapskate nature of Rosé. The male reader will surely identify himself with one of the wines - I matched with Merlot, my favorite wine. "The nice guy". The only thing I am bothered that my wife's favorite - next to Merlot, of course - is Shiraz.

In the middle of the electronic version, I could no longer resist ordering the paperback as a Christmas gift for my wife. If you let it accompanied by some bottles, it will be a memorable holiday. Maybe some Shiraz, too. I mean the wine.
I did enjoy this with a glass of wine in hand and having read the book's description expected it to be a little tongue in cheek, not to be taken too seriously. I rather liked that. I don't care much for pompous descriptions of wine, yet I do love to learn more about those things that I enjoy. I learned a little about wine through this book.

My reading focus was on the wine, as that was where my interest lay. Great descriptions. The short stories were fine. The style of the book, a mix of non-fiction and fiction, I thought was great. An interesting light and quite informative read.
